Moving and handling training with our guest speaker: Håkan Skenhede

Moving and handling training

Yesterday was the day of our long awaited moving and handling training day. We have to say the build up to this day has been immense as everyone seemed so keen to attend this event.

The event was held at the Mega Centre in Sheffield and we had a guest speaker from Handicare the moving and handling specialist Mr Håkan Skenhede, who flew in from Sweden especially to attend the day. Håkan kicked off the day by explaining the benefits of the techniques he was about to share with us, in particular with individuals with challenging behaviour.

The Handicare Moving and Handling Range is branded as System Romedic and these products provide healthcare staff with the knowledge and tools they require to be able to carry out simple, secure and effective transfers in every possible way.

The day was focused on providing the carers and staff with alternative solutions to moving and handling and much of this was back up by simple techniques demonstrated by Håkan.

As well as Handicare attending that day we also had other manufacturers there such as Patterson Medical, Invacare, West Meria, Kirton and Sunrise Medical. Each of these manufacturers had an exhibition on the day too showing a various range of equipment ranging from beds to shower chairs. It was great to see people interacting with the products and trying out the techniques Håkan had demonstrated.

With the event drawing in over 50 people from all healthcare sectors everyone remarked on how much they’d learnt and overall enjoyed the day.  If anyone requires a demonstration please contact our Orgreave head office on 0114 2293366

Congratulations to Ruth Rhymes from Doncaster

Today we visited Doncaster Wheelchair Services to present the prize of £100 M&S vouchers to the winner of our NHS open day prize draw.

The winner was Ruth Rhymes, an Occupational Therapist and the prize Ruth won was from our NHS open day back in March.

There was another prize draw that day of £500 worth of equipment vouchers which was won by Tess Daily.  This equipment could be anything from the Sunrise Medical Range of products we supply into NHS Wheelchair Services and includes wheelchairs such as the Quickie, Breezy and Lomax Brands.

Tess is an Occupational Therapist from Leeds wheelchair services.

Clark and Partners would like to thank all who attended on that special day and say congratulations to the prize winners.

Warren’s Marathon

Warren Keeton

This weekend Warren Keeton completed his first half marathon here in Sheffield and completed it in great time at just 1 hour and 56 minutes.

Warren is one of our Access Solutions Specialists. Over the last few years access becomes a more important to our clients and as a consequence we have supplied vertical lifts, Stannah stairlifts, ramps and special solutions such as wet rooms and wheelchair friendly extensions. Warren is one of our team trained to measure, advise and help clients make the best choices to open up their homes.

Warren decided to do the marathon 6 months ago and has been in training for the last few months to complete the task. This was also a team effort as Warren ran with his father and collectively raising over £650 for the Sheffield Cancer Support Centre.

The support centre operates as part of Weston Park Hospital development funding and provides support for anyone affected by cancer.

This service plays a vital part in supporting both the patient and the carer and provides a variety of services from complementary therapies to coffee mornings.

Here at Clark and Partners we’re very proud of Warren’s achievement and acknowledge the difference to peoples lives the money raised will make.

Well Done Warren

Our New Arrival of the Show Stopping Scooters

TGA Vita, Lanlex Gazelle, Drive Sportrider
What an exciting week it’s been here at Clark and Partners.  Firstly we had the reopening of our Rotherham Hospital showroom and then we had a handful of new scooters arrive across our showrooms.

Firstly there was the TGA Vita, This scooter is quite the looker especially in white as it tended to gave it quite a bold and fresh young look. The top speed on this is 8mph and the digital display gives it a real up to date image.

We also got the Lanlex Gazelle, this one seems to have a more modern technology than some others on the market which means the electrics systems resembles more of a motor vehicle and also has a lockable rear storage box.

And last but by no means least we have the Drive Sportrider.  Now this scooter really knows how to make an impression. I remember seeing it at the Naidex day earlier this month and I was left speechless.   The design of this scooter resembles a three wheeled chopper motorbike.  With the chrome side mirrors and circular headlamp also in chrome it looked fantastic. If you want to arrive in style this is the bike for you as it’d be a dead cert to get attention.  This particular one is currently being held at our Huddersfield showroom and has already has test drive bookings.

If you’d like to arrange a test drive please call 0114 2293391

Our Rotherham Showroom Has Been Extended

Clark and Partners Rotherham

Click on image to increase size

It was a busy week here at Clark and Partners last week due to our Rotherham showroom being extended and reopened.

The location is actually inside the Rotherham hospital so it’s always been a busy branch but had the disadvantage of been quite small. This has meant that we have had to be careful what we stock there and some of the larger items such as mobility scooters and wheelchairs have not had the exposure they deserve.   So when a unit next door became available we jumped at it and renovated our existing shop and extended it into the unit.

As you can imagine people’s needs are quite vast with regards to the showroom being within a hospital setting but now it’s great that with a little more space more needs can be catered for. It’s now almost double its original size.

There’s more space to display new products such as the Sandpiper footwear range and even more open space for Sunrise Scooters to be seen and even test driven. It certainly seemed to be generating some interest amongst visitors too with everyone coming along to see as what’s on offer.

We’ve of cause still got the offer on for the Invacare Leo scooter for £850 which is really great value at half the original price.
