Access Solutions for Chapeltown Swimming Baths

Chapeltown Baths is a Sheffield swimming pool which recently celebrated its 50 year anniversary. The highlight of this was the installation of their new pool hoist and outdoor raised platform lift, supplied and fitted by Clark and Partners Ltd.

It’s easy to forget the issues some people have to face gaining access to areas such as swimming pools. Lack of access can mean disabled people end up missing out on a whole variety of leisure activities or entertainment.

Many local businesses, particularly entertainment venues and leisure or health facilities find that providing access to all of its patrons can be a real problem; with many buildings built in a time before disability access was a priority. The introduction of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 (DDA) has encouraged and enabled proprietors to make reasonable efforts to ensure access is available for all customers, and Chapeltown Swimming Baths have taken full advantage of this.

The outdoor lift fitted was a Terry Melody 2 Vertical Lift which will aid people to gain access to the main building and especially anyone in a wheelchair, who otherwise wouldn’t be able to gain access due to the steps outside.Melody 2 vertical lift

The existing steps were excavated to make room for the lift and it sits to the left of the landing at the top of the steps with easy access from the car park.

On the inside the Oxford Dipper Pool Hoist was fitted beside the pool to enable and assist customers in gaining access getting into / out of the pool itself.

Staff, the committee and users at Chapeltown Baths have eagerly awaited the new changes and are excited at the prospect of having their very own hoist and lift.

As a local family company, Clark and Partners are no strangers to supplying and installing these products. Michael Clark is the Lead Specialist for Access Solutions at Clark and Partners and he designed and organised the installation. With the help of the installation team at Clark and Partners the fitting went to plan he said “We are delighted that both these products will go a long way in changing peoples life’s for the better, and at the same time give people the equal opportunity to participate in an extra hobby or sport.”

Clark and Partners are proud to support local charity

Clark and Partners have recently been involved in a fantastic local charity called Stars In Our Eyes. Visit their website here.

Our involvement all started when Joe Hamshaw, a young local lad had a bicycle accident. This unfortunately resulted in Joe suffering a multiple spinal injury resulting in him needing a wheelchair and this is where Stars In Our Eyes have stepped in. This charity has done a fantastic job of raising money to help improve people’s quality of life resulting in raising a total of over £500,000 since its start up 6 years ago.

The charity raises money for many needy causes by performing cabaret nights in clubs throughout the region. The cabaret consists of a series of tribute acts with many familiar faces, such as Cher, Elvis, Tina Turner and even a good looky likey of Freddie Mercury too.

Clark and Partners support came in the form of supplying a Sunrise Medical, Quickie Helium active user wheelchair for Joe and our specialist visited with several manufacturers wheelchairs including Invacare, Kuschall, and Ottobock all which helped Joe make an informed decision to chose the Helium as the product most suited his needs.

Stars In Our Eyes fame has got to the small screen too with a recent appearance on the YTV – Yorkshire Television Calendar Show, they visited a rehearsal and met with Joe and the cast of Stars In Our Eyes.

Clark and Partners would like to thanks to Stars in our eyes for giving us the opportunity to not only help support the charity but to help in making a change to Joe’s life.

Huddersfield branch going from strength to strength

Over a year ago our Huddersfield showroom opened its doors and today seems to be getting more and more popular with customers.

Ray our showroom adviser is already well known with quite a number of regular customers. In fact his friendly and inviting personality invites many regulars in just for a chat. Another regular is Calderdale wheelchair services who provide customers with wheelchair vouchers which are accepted and exchanged for goods by Clark and Partners.

There’s a wide range of products available in our Bradley Mills showroom from folding walking sticks to stair lifts. In fact there’s a  Stannah set up in our Huddersfield branch so if you fancy trying one out before making a decision to buy that’s not a problem. We also have quite a wide selection of bathing aids too from waterproof dressing protectors to bath hoists and walk in wet rooms. In fact there’s very little we don’t stock!

Our fully operative Oxford voyager ceiling track hoist proves to be a big hit too with customers popping in to give it a try.

We would also like to say a special thanks to Gateway for Care from Kirklees Council as they recommend us on many occasions. Our location of the branch is great too with ample free parking and easy access and with us just being across from the Galpharm stadium and next to the NHS repair centre we’re easy to find.

Our Huddersfield branch is also amongst the first of our showrooms to gain the Motability certification. This means we’re approved and able to supply powered wheelchairs and scooters packages to the public via a mobility allowance or alternatively a war pension. Another step towards making life more comfortable.

Big Changes to Your Doncaster Branch

Our branch of Clark and Partners has seen many changes over the last 20 years since we’ve been based in the City centre of Doncaster, and staff there couldn’t help but notice the massive building project which started at the beginning of the year.

Branch staff Carol, Babsie and Sue have been watching the build of the new medical centre the last few months and are amazed at the sheer size of it. All the eco measures have been used on this building too like solar panels and a device to collect and reuse rainwater.

The building was officially named by a local resident “The Flying Scotsman” after Doncaster’s important railway heritage and is due top open its doors in the autumn of this year.  Of course the benefit of Clark and Partners being just next door is that it will make a few peoples lives easier and more convenient should they need any mobility aids.

We currently have the new Home Glide stair lift at our Doncaster branch which is one of our most popular stair lifts. The fact that you can try it for yourself in our showroom proves a real advantage for our customers too.  Prices for these start at £1595 including full fitting, making this a great buy.

We also have the largest range of Sandpiper shoes and slippers at our Doncaster branch than at any of our other branches. We even provide a free home service for this if you’d prefer so you can brows the range within the comfort of your own home.

Motability and Clark and Partners

I am pleased to announce that Clark and Partners have recently gained accreditation for Motability.

Here at Clark and Partners we are excited to announce that two of our showrooms have achieved the accreditation for Motability.

Our Huddersfield and Orgreave showrooms recently became accredited for Motability with our other five showrooms set to follow.

By 21st July our additional branches of Hillsborough, Wellington Street, Rotherham, Derby and Doncaster will be completing the accreditation set.

Motability is a fantastic charity organisation who provide people with the opportunity to gain anything from small boot scooters, to large road legal scooters via packages which can be used with a higher rate mobility allowance or alternatively anyone receiving a war pension. This also includes quite a large range of powered wheelchairs.

Motability also provides cover with their leasing packages so you don’t need to worry about breaking down as with Motability you’re covered for servicing as well as a new scooter or powered wheelchair every three years. It really is a worry free package!

Clark and Partners are quite excited to be part of a charity organisation such as Motability and are looking forward to the future ahead.
